Newsletter Policies:

The Cancer SIG newsletter has 3 specific purposes: 1) Increase the sense of community between Cancer SIG members; 2) Share information that is useful for the majority of our members; 3) Be a useful resource to new exercise oncology workforce members as they navigate training and career opportunities.

Newsletter Contents:

The newsletter includes information that directly supports the purposes stated above. Thus, it includes:

·       Conference and symposium information relevant to Exercise Oncology

·       Training opportunities relevant to Exercise Oncology

·       Career opportunities relevant to Exercise Oncology

·       Funding opportunities relevant to Exercise Oncology

·       Special Initiatives of the Cancer SIG

Not included in the Newsletter:

·       Recruitment announcements for open clinical trials or research studies

·       Advertisements for commercial products, including products for research use

·       Anything deemed to confer bias in support of or against any particular clinical or   laboratory research program or service

·       Anything deemed offensive

Why such strict rules for newsletter inclusion?

In most cases, people scan the newsletter for less than 30 seconds. Brevity is needed to be sure that important information is disseminated. Additionally, the Cancer SIG leadership wishes to avoid bias in favor of or against any particular person, idea, study, or institution. Thus, a blanket policy regarding inclusion of information in the newsletter is necessary.
